03/08 State Agency Resources for Young Adults with Disabilities--Transition and Beyond
Panel discussion with representatives from Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission, Department of Mental Health, and the Department of Mental Retardation will participate on the services that each agency provides to transition age students and adults. Third in the series on transition to the adult world of work and social services. The Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission promotes equality, empowerment and productive independence of individuals with disabilities through enhancing and encouraging personal choice and risk-taking for independence and employment. MRC provides comprehensive services to people with disabilities that maximizes their quality of life and economic self-sufficiency in the community. The MA Department of Mental Health assures and provides access to services and supports to meet the mental health needs of individuals of all ages, enabling them to live, work and participate in their communities. The MA Department of Mental Retardation is dedicated to creating, in partnership with others, innovative and genuine opportunities for individuals with mental retardation to participate fully and meaningfully in, and contribute to, their communities as valued members.
