Combined Jewish Philanthropies has been holding the community phone-a-thon
for 25 years. Thanks to the generosity of each person who answers the call,
the event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Leventhal-Sidman JCC in
Newton and 9 a.m. to noon at the Striar JCC in Stoughton, is CJP's single
largest fund-raising day of the year. Super Sunday Chair Dan Romanow says
the day represents a long tradition of caring. "For 25 years, on this
special day, the community demonstrates its core values. With so many
people relying on us this year, we have to come together to help. We can't
let them down." As volunteers make the calls, they build the support needed
to reach out to the most vulnerable, nurture lifelong Jewish learning, and
help ensure the Jewish world remains strong and vibrant for future
generations to inherit.
