Ability: Preparing for the Bar or Bat Mitzvah of a Child with
Disabilities
Presented by Yesodot and Etgar L'Noar. A panel
of parents and professionals will explore issues and share
experiences about celebrating the Bar or Bat Mitzvah of children
with special needs. Panelists include: Rabbi Bernard Eisenman,
Temple Emunah, Lexington; Cantor Scott Sokol, Director of
the Jewish Special Education Certificate Program at Hebrew
College, and Cantor at Congregation Kehillath Israel, Brookline;
Marion Green, long-time Bar/Bat Mitzvah tutor, teacher, and
consultant to Hebrew Schools on teaching Hebrew reading to
children with special learning needs; Parents of children
with disabilities who have recently become Bar or Bat Mitzvah.
