About Yesodot

JVS Mission Statement

JVS gives shape and substance to the Judaic teachings regarding social justice and the value of work. Our mission is to empower individuals from diverse communities to find employment and build careers, and to partner with employers to hire and train productive workforces.

About JVS

Yesodot is a service of JVS. Yesodot's founding families chose to affiliate with JVS because of its longstanding commitment to individuals with disabilities.

JVS, is a non-sectarian, non-profit, 501 (c)(3) community agency which provides a wide range of workforce development services to the Greater Boston community.

The JVS mission is to empower individuals from diverse communities to find employment and build careers and to partner with employers to hire and train productive workforces. JVS serves people with low incomes, refugees and immigrants, professional wishing to change careers and people with disabilities. The agency is committed to assisting individuals with barriers to employment (such as individuals with disabilities) obtain employment and most importantly build career ladder opportunities through post placement training and education. JVS provides a wide range of employment, educational and training services.

JVS's services to individuals with disabilities and mental illness include identification of educational opportunities, vocational assessment, skills training, job search techniques, job development, job placement, on-site job coaching and post placement support services.

JVS provides outreach and education to employers concerning disabilities, the Americans With Disabilities Act ("ADA") and reasonable accommodations, and has worked with employers to identify potential positions and redefine them to meet the needs of consumers with disabilities.

JVS realizes that all individuals face a complex array of barriers to self-sufficiency in which no single service may reasonably be expected to predominate. This is particularly true for individuals with disabilities. With this understanding JVS has linkages and affiliations with over 100 Boston based agencies; these partners are utilized to supplement and provide services not provided by JVS. JVS maintains good relations and communication with these agencies. JVS has an online support service locator that is available to staff and consumers. These resources offer choice for supports, addresses, telephone numbers, and websites.

JVS staff have experience with the transition from school to work and the expectations of the adult human service system. JVS offers to the Yesodot families the knowledge of the options they have as their children mature, and experience with a variety of resources. JVS has an excellent long-term relationship with the human service system in Massachusetts, a relationship which benefits Yesodot families in both the long and short term.
